PSYCHOLOGICAL-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS

Formal intellectual evaluations of children from age 2-16 yrs. old in either English or Hebrew. Neuro-developmental functions evaluated. Root of learning disabilities determined. Personality testing. Diagnosis of family dysfunctions in day to day living.

DIDACTIC EVALUATIONS

On the clinic staff is a certified didactic evaluator and educational counselor, Celia Gibor, B. Ed. Special Ed. , M.A. Educational Guidance, who does the didactic aspect of the formal psychological-didactic evaluations. Ms. Gibor is recognized by the Ministry of Education and has wide experience in evaluating students from grade school through university. The didactic testing includes testing of perceptions of various modalities (auditory, visual, memories), language (reading and writing - oral and written expression), English (same) and math. The didactic report includes operative instructions for helping the child and analysis of the child's strengths and the approprate learning strategies for him. Beginning September 2003, the formal didactic evaluation is required by the schools in order to give special help to children in need of extra help in the classroom

ADHD SPECIALIST (ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER & HYPERACTIVITY)

Total case management including diagnosis, parental guidance, behavior modification techniques, teacher consultation and follow-up, and coordination with child’s other specialists (psychiatrist, neurologist) regarding medication and other aspects of the treatment plan. Ongoing dynamic evaluation of the effects of the treatment plan with ongoing revision of goals and strategies. Sensory Sensitivities evaluation and treatment plan where relevant.

SENSORY SENSITIVITIES EVALUATION AND TREATMENT PROGRAM

Many children deviate from normal development and behave in unusual and dysfunctional ways because of an inherent physical sensitivity or lack of sensitivity in a sensory modality. Examples of this are extreme sensitivity to noise, light, smell, taste, touch, muscle pressure, and balance deviations. My extensive sensory interview with the parents and my observations of the child (either in his classroom or with his family in the clinic) help me diagnose if this is a factor in the child’s presenting problem and if so, a relevant treatment program is demonstrated and implemented. Techniques were learned from extensive seminars with Rami Katz, well-known clinician in this field.

SCHOOL GUIDANCE

transmission of evaluation results and recommendations to school staff so that there will be practical application of the findings. A school meeting is usually convened with the teachers and parents to formulate objectives and methods. Follow-up meetings monitor progress and keep everybody on track so that the child’s progress is steady.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE
